Kinesiology FAQ's
Kinesiology literally means "the study of movement". George Goodheart, a Chiropractor,
is recognised as the founder of contemporary Kinesiology. He began to observe and
explore muscle monitoring techniques in the 1960’s. Goodheart discovered that each
major muscle had a corresponding organ relationship. This theory was soon expanded
to include acupressure and the meridian system. Applied Kinesiology continues to
be used by Chiropractors and other health professionals.
Holistic Kinesiology uses
muscle monitoring to detect imbalances on all levels. As the Australian Kinesiology
Association explains, ‘an unlocking muscle test indicates a disturbed energy flow
- be it structural, chemical, nutritional, mental, emotional and spiritual.’
Holistic
Kinesiologists use a range of techniques to balance the energetic and physical structures
of the body based on your individual needs.
Techniques Kerry uses include:
- Flower Essences
- Chakra Balancing
- Hormone Balancing
- Meridian Balancing
- Holding Acupressure points
- Neuro-Lymphatic or Neuro-Vascular reflex points
- Sound, Light or Colour Therapy
- Time tracking to find the source of the stress
- Affirmations
- Visualisations
- Use of crystals
The British Houses of Parliament passed this definition: "Kinesiology, literally
the study of body movement, encompasses holistic health disciplines which use gentle
manual muscle testing to monitor information about a person's well being. It originated
in the 1960's combining western techniques with Eastern wisdom to promote physical,
emotional and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies factors which block the body's
natural healing process. These dysfunctions are rectified by attention to reflex
and acupressure points, the use of specific body movements and nutritional support.
Kinesiology can relieve pain, stress, muscular and nervous disorders; detect allergies
and nutritional deficiencies; assist with psychological and learning problems, stimulate
energies and release untapped potential."

What does a Kinesiology session involve?
Every Kinesiology session will be different as it is always tailored to your needs.
Sometimes you might have a specific area of concern (such as an emotional crisis,
fear, digestion, relationship problems, pain, work stress) whilst other times it
might be more general.
Once we have a shared understanding of the issues to work
on, you will remove your shoes and lie face up on the massage table.
During the session gentle muscle monitoring techniques are used to detect imbalances in your
body. Discussions continue throughout the session with information and connections
shared as they come up. Whilst sessions vary, common aspects might be the use of
flower essences, muscle testing, holding acupressure points and the use of visualisations.
At the end of the session any recommended homework practices such as reading an
affirmation or taking a flower essence will be discussed. Follow up will be planned
as appropriate.
How long is a Kinesiology session?
Sessions can be booked for one hour or ninety
minutes.
How many Kinesiology sessions will I need?
Obviously this depends on the individual, however if you are new to Kinesiology, a series of three sessions spaced
over 1 – 2 months is recommended. This honours the healing process and provides
a more balanced perspective on what Kinesiology can offer you.
Healing and creating balance do require some commitment and a willingness to change.
Many people notice a significant difference after just one session. If Kinesiology is an effective
approach for you, many people decide to have regular sessions (monthly or bi-monthly)
as an excellent way to deal with the ongoing stress that is part of every day life
and help you create ongoing balance.
Over time, as surface level stressors are decreased,
you can work on deeper issues. This can be where the most profound and life changing
shifts begin to occur. This is why I continue to have regular Kinesiology sessions.
How much does it cost?
$90 for one hour; $125 for ninety minutes
